Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the AltForge website at altforge.app, our API, and the AltForge WordPress plugin (together, the "Service"), operated by Fletcher Digital ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account, purchasing credits, or installing the plugin, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. The Service

AltForge generates alt text for images on WordPress websites using AI. You buy prepaid credits; one credit generates one image's alt text. Generated suggestions land in a review queue on your WordPress site and are only written to the site when you approve them.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate information and keep your password and API keys secure. You're responsible for activity on your account. Notify us at [email protected] if you believe your account has been compromised.

We verify your email address. You need a verified email before you can purchase credits.

3. Credits and billing

• Credit packs are prepaid and non-refundable except as set out in our refund policy (section 4).
• One credit generates one image's alt text. Credits are deducted atomically on each successful generation.
• Credits expire 12 months after your most recent top-up. Any purchase, bonus, or referral credit added to your balance extends the whole balance's expiry by another 12 months from that date. We email a reminder 30 days before anything is due to expire.
• No subscription. You only pay for credits you choose to purchase.
• Prices are shown in GBP. Payment is processed by Stripe; local taxes may apply.

4. Refund policy

Automatic refunds: if a generation fails due to an AI provider error, the credit is returned to your balance automatically — you are not charged for failed generations.

Discretionary refunds: if you request a refund within 7 days of purchase and have used less than 10% of the credits from that purchase, contact [email protected] and we'll process it to your original payment method.

Expired credits are not refundable. Any top-up extends your expiry — we'll warn you before credits expire.

5. Permitted use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for illegal or abusive purposes.
• Submit images you don't have the right to process.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer the Service or circumvent credit deduction or rate limits.
• Share your API keys publicly or resell generated output as a competing service.
• Submit content the AI provider's acceptable-use policy prohibits.

6. The plugin

The AltForge WordPress plugin is licensed under the GPL-2.0 licence. You may use it on any WordPress site where you have a valid AltForge account and API key. Approved alt text is written to the native WordPress attachment meta (_wp_attachment_image_alt) — it stays with your site if you uninstall the plugin or close your AltForge account.

7. Third-party processors

The Service relies on third parties:

• Stripe processes payments.
• SendGrid sends transactional emails.
• Anthropic provides the AI model that generates alt text; your images and prompt context are sent to their API.
• Vultr / Coolify host our infrastructure.

8. Availability and limitations

We aim for high availability but don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may release updates, change features, or alter pricing with reasonable notice.

Rate limits apply per API key (typical: 10 requests per second, 1,000 per hour for generation; 30 per hour for page analysis).

9. Termination

You can delete your account any time from your account settings. We can suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, with notice where possible.

If we wind down the Service entirely, we'll give at least 30 days' notice and refund unused credits from purchases made in the preceding 12 months.

10. Liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (loss of profits, data, or goodwill). Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the changes.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
